Willie Jewell's Old School Bar-B-Q

Didn’t realize it was a chain until just now but didn’t affect the taste obviously. Overall: B Brisket: A- -Good bark and flavor. -Tad bit dry but otherwise no complaints -Best thing I had Pork: B -A little dry, a little bland but that’s probably because there was no bark in my pork plate. -Mixed in with sides, it was a good bite. Mac & Cheese: C -Reminds me of frozen Stoufer’s and sometimes that’s just good enough. Brunswick Stew: D -More like a loaded vegetable soup but with less flavor. Did not finish. Sausage: C -Bland, and was soft like it had been boiled instead of grilled/smoked. Greens: A- Nana puddin’: B+ Sauces: A -Served warm! -Hickory (surprisingly) and the Hot one were my favorites. Pricing: A, for BBQ Service: A; friendly staff and order was 100% correct.

My son and I were driving through on a road trip and stopped in for lunch. Mrs. Tiffany was working the counter, and there couldn't have been a better person to greet us. I told her we're from out of town and just driving through, and asked for her recommendation. She suggested the Brisket BLT, and there isn't a better BBQ sandwich out there. Generous portion of sliced brisket, fried green tomatoes, lettuce, and some kind of ranch sauce. She said the sauce is supposed to be drizzled, but she had them put out on the side so I could control how much I got. Then Mrs. Tiffany told us we HAD to try the grape juice lemonade. She was right again. It was AMAZING. When Mrs. Tiffany brought us the food she went out of her way to get my son each flavor of sauce AND refill his drink. They're self-serve drinks, and she definitely didn't have to. And after all that, and I'm about half way done with my food she comes back by to just check in. She was genuinely concerned about me driving an 18 hour trip, and was so sincere when she asked me to please rest when I need to, and to get home safely. All this to say: The food is 20 out of 10 The only person I interacted with was Mrs. Tiffany, and her service was 100 out of 10 The atmosphere was perfect The food was beyond amazing If you want some GOOD BBQ Willie Jewell's is what you want.

Decided to try out Willie Jewell’s as our Memorial Day solution. Ordered a whole barbecue chicken, half rack of ribs, as well as beef brisket (eaten up before pictured). Of the 3 meats, the brisket was the star of the show; smoky, juicy, with fatty and tender bites and was delicious on its own without sauce. In second place was the barbecue chicken, which was also juicy and tender. The ribs were the most disappointing as it was the meat I was most looking forward to, but it ended up being dry and tough to eat, and needed a lot of barbecue sauce to make it palatable. The customer service was excellent and ordering was very convenient. Would come back again for the chicken and beef brisket but would skip the ribs.

Amazing people and amazing food, I’m staying in Augusta for the week for work, and I was looking for food driving with my windows down, and I could smell the BBQ from almost a mile away, once I got in I was immediately greeted by Tiffany who’s a generous and kind soul, and she helped me figure out what I wanted to eat and treated me with the up most hospitality, if you want to sit down and have some BBQ and you’re passing by, definitely don’t pass this place up!!! The staff here definitely take pride in their work and cooking and you won’t be disappointed.

The food was amazing, prices are very reasonable, and the staff was super nice. Especially “Mr. Ted”. My 10 year old is a tough critic and he said this was the best place he had eaten in a long time.
