South Carolina Department of Social Services - Aiken County

I was there from 11am to 4:30pm simply asking them to remove my child from my mother in law’s account because I didn’t authorize this. I told her to remove him and she lied to me and told me she did. Ms. Burley. Ms. Chavous and a male supervisor all gave me the run around told me it’s policy not to take off my son from her account after she recertify. I would have to wait another 6 months I knew they were lying so I stayed and explained to them that I was not leaving until he’s removed. He’s been living with me and not my mother in law. They laughed and had smirks on there face. So I told them I’m filing a fraud report and I waited there until around 4 the male supervisor finally removed my son from her account. When he could’ve simply did that hours ago. I knew they all were friends she told me before they help her get extra stamps. Basically she was there trying to play me. They’re very unprofessional.

Let me tell you something, this has been the most stressful aggravating experience of my whole life. Just trying to see if someone received my documents via email is like pulling teeth. Forget calling the office and talking to someone. No one calls you back and no one emails you back either and if they do, they have a nasty attitude about it. It’s truly unbelievable and unacceptable. That’s embarrassing.

Ladies here are extremely helpful and professional. Turnaround times for assistance is also decent. They will call you and ask questions if needed, instead of sending letters in the mail and having to wait longer. I appreciate everyone who I've talked to here and that has helped me! Thank you, I can't say that enough!

Totally outrageous I would give them a 0 if I could I called 3 different days was told something different each time why we didn't receive food stamps. DHS workers here are the rudest ever. They like to laugh than transfer you to someone else. At this point I'm done with South Carolina ...

Applied for benefits on October 3,2022 and got interviewed the next day! This is the fastest my case have ever been looked at.I'm in Lexington County but, Aiken picked up my case. Update: Faxed in all the necessary documents today and BOOM! Had to wait on certain documents due to it being over the weekend.My case was processed and approved today! I'm amazed at how fast they got my case processed. Columbia or Lexington don't have nothing on Aiken DSS!💪
