Very enjoyable visit--the highlight of our Augusta trip. The oddities in the museum (e.g., vampire bass (not bats--bass...), shrunken heads, a mummy, two-headed t-rex skeleton, etc.) were neat to look at, but what really made the visit fun were the tales told by Peter & Red. You'll come away schooled up nicely on the history of dime museums & sideshow acts, but thanks not to lectures but to engaging stories. The experience was very personalized; there were only four adults in our group on a Friday evening and questions/comments were welcomed & encouraged. Visit would absolutely be fine for older elementary-aged kids. Tour started promptly at 6 p.m. and we left around 8:15 having been thoroughly entertained on the guided tour and by a genuine, bone fide sword swallowing act, post tour. Logistics were easy. We parked literally right in front of the museum and there were additional vacant on-street spaces all around us. Area was a block or so off the main downtown drag but not crowded at all & felt totally safe. Admission price was $18 per person. TBH, I initially thought that was a bit steep, but left feeling very much like I'd gotten my money's worth and was happy to have supported what is very obviously a labor of love for a committed soul.

We had the amazing opportunity to visit the ONLY remaining American Dime Museum in the world!! Peter was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining and we had a BLAST! There aren’t many things that my 8yr old son enjoys these days since being wheelchair bound and getting cancer treatment, and my pre-teen daughters are in their only-care-about-technology phase, so I’m always on the lookout for cool, interesting and unique experiences. This place exceeded my expectations and kept my kids mesmerized for hours! While simultaneously learning about American culture & history!! Highly recommend!!

If you haven't visited this curio in Augusta yet, you're doing yourself a disservice! Filled with curiosities and various other historical items and it items that defy conventional description, it certainly fits in the spectrum of the weird/other worldly/side show. The show takes about a good 2-2.5 hrs and is entertaining to say the least! You can't beat that amount of entertainment for less than 20 bucks for one price of admission! The only downside is that they are reservation only, so you'll have to call the number to get your spot, but they usually do 2-3 shows a day. If you ever find yourself with nothing to do on a weekend or weekday, I highly suggest grabbing the family and/or a group of friends and taking the tour!

This might be the only place I've ever wanted to put a higher rating than 5. If you're looking at this review, get off the fence and give Peter a call to schedule a time. Easily the most enjoyable, informative, and wildly entertaining tour I've ever been on, and definitely my favorite place in Augusta. We'll be going back every time we are in town.

This place is by far the best thing to see and do in Augusta. It is affordable, the experience of approximately 2 hours will keep you on the edge of your seat and the way Pexcho engages with his audience shows an ability to keep an interest, in the same vein as P.T. Barnum or those who worked with the early versions of a World's Fair or the many Dime Museums of yesteryear. You will be entertained and the experience you will have will not leave you disappointed. You will have to contact directly to book for a tour, but they are always polite, willing to accommodate when possible, and eager to have you experience the bizarre and see the oddities of the world. If you have children, watch their cell phones not leave their pocket as they become interested in everything that surrounds them. Seriously, if you're in Augusta and only have time to do one activity, this is your sign to book now.
