Monterrey Restaurant

A good choice if you are looking for consistent, good quality Mexican food. Nothing that will 'wow" you, as Monterey restaurants are fairly prevalent around the CSRA, and their presentation and offerings are pretty much identical. However, I've never had a bad experience, and sometimes you need a place that you know will come through with good quality food if you don't feel like cooking. Pricing is "so-so", not the most expensive but you don't leave feeling you've got a great deal either. Portions are good; you won't leave hungry. When you order to-go, you'll wait 15-20 minutes...not bad. Only real "downside" is parking...EXTREMELY small parking lot... if coming past 5p, be prepared to park in either Advance Auto Parts lot or Gerald Jones overflow car lot.

Monterrey has some of the best Mexican food in this area. The quality is superb and everything is so fresh and cooked to order. The shrimp are cooked to perfection and they serve the large shrimp, not the small salad shrimp with each order. The zucchini and squash is also one of my favorites. If you want some good quality Mexican food , you won’t go wrong by Selecting Monterrey’s Mexican Restaurant on Washington Road!! Oh let me not forget the Margaritas are on point for those that need a little something extra to drink. Goota love it, I do!!

First time here at Monterey. The service was excellent. The waiters and waitresses were very attentive. The food itself was very middle of the road. My birria tragos were soggy and very bland, but not nasty or anything. My girlfriend ordered a burrito and seemed to enjoy it but also said her food was under seasoned. Overall, I'd say there are definitely better places In town but the food was good enough, the atmosphere was pleasant with good music, and the service was incredible. Would be a great place to bring a large group of people.

We absolutely loved this spot! The parking lot looked full so we worried about seating but they accommodated us immediately. We placed our orders and food/drinks/appetizers were nearly immediate! I rarely see service that fast! We were passing through from Maryland and were blown away by the hospitality, quality of service, and prices. The staff was so amazing, from being greeted at the door, to the servers, and even to the staffer clearing tables, they were so welcoming and attentive! Definitely Not the service you find more north 🫣 We would definitely recommend this location and hope to visit it again! Bariga llena, corazón contento 🥰

While the food was pretty decent the service was absolutely terrible. Started with the wrong food being brought to the table, this is understandable and happens, orders get mixed up, no big deal. But afterwards, our waiter never returned for refills for us, napkins to use at all, or the bill when we were clearly done, until I flagged him down after he walked past us over and over serving the table behind us. We were charged for the more expensive item that I didn’t order and received incorrectly but we didn’t contest it. None of this is why I am leaving a review though. These are all understandable to some degree. The icing on the cake is that the waiter did not return our credit card when he took it to go run our bill. With a small child we didn’t immediately notice but thankfully did when we got back to the car. My husband returns and they go find his credit card somewhere magically in the back. I have a hard time understanding how a credit card doesn’t get returned with a receipt in an accidental fashion. Other wait staff seemed attentive and were friendly but we seemed to hit the bottom of the barrel. I do not leave reviews of places ever but this is a warning to others to make sure you get your card back.
