Martinez Eye Associates

My appointment was at 11AM and I wasn’t taken back to see the doctor until 12:15PM and I didn’t see the doctor until 12:30 PM. The reason? Because they took walk-ins before me. When I asked about that I was told the managing doctor does not allow them to prioritize people with appointments. So, be warned. If you have an appointment it doesn’t really mean anything. I will say the office staff was very understanding of my frustration and I get the feeling they would appreciate the managing doctor reversing this policy because they are the ones who have to deal with the impact of the policy.

They double book. I could get an appointment within a few days but I spent over an hour and half in the waiting room past my appointment time. I finally had to leave. They said I was next but I could hear that he was just starting on the other patient. I have a life too, work to do.

Growing up, dad would sing "Brown Eyed Girl" to me, even though I was wearing blue contacts at the time. He hated that I always wanted to change the color of my eyes. Brown eyes are prominent in the Fletcher family. I went to the eye doctor yesterday because your girl is legally blind without corrective lenses. My prescription has gotten incredibly worse than my last visit, but I met a wonderful doctor here in Aiken (Martinez eye associates by Eyemart Express). He's looking at my eyes through his tools, and he said "wow, you have heterochromia." Of course, I immediately ask what it was, thinking maybe this is why my eye sight had gotten worse.. I have two colored eyes, that's all it means. Where my eyes were brown growing up, the brown is now centered between blue/green (hazel). The doctor asked me what contacts I wore, and I mentioned I only wear colored contacts. "Y'all just can never be pleased," he said. I giggled, nervously.. "God doesn’t make trash, does he? Who made those eyes for you?" "God did." Long story short, my doctor informed me the reason I haven't been able to see for so long is because they don't make colored contacts in my prescription because of the strength of my astigmatism. I can special order contacts from Colorado, but I will pay a pretty penny. Yesterday was wonderful. Not only can I see every vein in the leaves, the individual blades of grass, and i can count the petals on flowers because of my new prescription, but I learned that I'm wonderfully made by the Creator who makes no mistakes. God doesn't make trash, does he?
