Even though it’s a shorter course this is a tough Tom Jackson design. It’s in really good shape right now. It’s one of two resort state parks in South Carolina with golf courses. You can stay and play or drive in depending on where you’re coming from. Highly recommend playing this course.

Hickory Knob Golf Course offers one of the best layouts in the region—challenging, scenic, and thoughtfully designed. The course conditions were exceptional, especially impressive given the intensity of the summer heat. Greens rolled true, fairways were well-maintained, and overall, it played beautifully. However, what truly sets Hickory Knob apart is the staff. Their hospitality, attentiveness, and genuine care for guests elevate the entire experience. You can tell they take pride in the course and in making sure every golfer feels welcomed and well taken care of. In terms of value, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better golf experience anywhere in South Carolina. Hickory Knob is a hidden gem that deserves more attention. Highly recommend it to golfers of all levels.

Municipal course so please keep this in mind. Course design/layout is great. Grass/greens/bunker are not in great condition especially with rain that came through, cart path only days. It's cheap so definitely good for new golfers, high handicap players. Skip it if you are visiting or mid to low handicap golfers.

Had a company fall golf outing for employees & retirees. It was a cool morning and had a 20 minute frost delay. We got extremely lucky driving 2 greens & making a 5 and 20 footer for eagles and another on our last hole which was a par 5 #16 hole. The course was in great shape with exception to the falling leaves, which was no surprise since it's not Spring or Summer but Fall time of the year. We had a good time seeing colleagues again.

Had a good time with friends and family on this trip. The ground for our lot space was kind of hard for pitching a tent. We made it work. The bathrooms were clean. They only have two showers, though. The activities were fun. Did not have any wild animals.
