Cardboard Castle Games

My son and I came in to look at pokemon singles of which they have a pretty good selection. The staff member that was working did a great job of pricing cards for us and helping us pick stuff out. We ended up leaving with 5 fairly priced cards all in solid shape and of a reasonable price. If I am back in town I will 100% come here again. Good selection and good staff, would recommend.

I'm only writing this review out of continuous frustration with this business as I don't believe a single bad experience warrants a poor review. The main issue I have with this store is the staff. Depending on who is working will make or break your experience here. There is a women with pink hair who consistently has the attitude that you are wasting her time, and has on multiple occasions wrung up items to where the total was significantly higher than other employees for the same items. I know this because there have been multiple instances where I have had to step away before completing a purchase for one reason or another (Work Call, another customer wanting/needing to cut?) and she wandered off from the register, and the person who replaced her at the register not even a full 5 minutes later wrung up the same items for much cheaper, to reiterate, this has happened multiple times. TLDR - Rude and higher cost for the same items The most recent issue happened at a Friday commander night. I got to the store at 7:45 and missed the sign-up, I asked a clarifying question to the staff about when sign-ups and was told they start at 5 and go till 7:40 and that I had missed them, I said thanks and went to go browse card packs to grab something before I went home for the night. Interaction over right? Instead I hear the employee behind the counter loudly talking to his coworker how much of a hassle it was that he had to explain the sign-up times to someone when the times havent changed in such and such timeframe, and the whole time he is using this super condescending tone. I wasnt rude, I didnt try to force the issue of sign up, I said thanks and went to go buy something, but instead I'm getting patronized for something that I have literally never had an issue with? Nah. Anyway, I've never had any issues with any other staff or patrons, just these two. What an amazing crew at this shop. I came in looking to sell/trade some Magic cards, and learned that my cards were high quality proxies! They educated me on how to inspect the cards for authenticity, and expressed great sympathy for my situation. I’ve come this store now for about 6 months, and the staff are always eager to help in any way. I’ll be handling the proxy situation with the help of the referral I received and I’m sure to have this sorted out!

Great store if you wanna start a new hobby in gaming or just looking for new types of games to play. Nice variety of games. They also have some merch for different games as well! The staff who work here are awesome. They also offer a calendar of events that the store hosts for different game or card days!

2023-01: Absolutely glad my son and I finally came to Cardboard Castle Games. AJ and Mikey were super chill but knowledgeable guys who answered a lot of questions about a few things for us. They had a great selection of board games, card games, dice, miniatures paint/supplies, Magic, D&D, and much more that I can't even pretend to know about. Some of their prices were higher than other retailers while other prices were spot on with the manufacturers direct pricing. Either way, with such a relaxed, inviting, and overall good vibe business, I'm okay paying a little extra to have them stay in business so close by. My son is looking forward to checking out their Pokemon tournaments. And I'm looking forward to seeing what Theory 11 Premium Playing Cards will matriculate through their stock over time. 😁
