I would say that half, the time the care is about par but sometimes it is below par. When I walk in and find a patient has fallen over because the wedges were not used on both sides to help support them or the are half falling out of their wheelchair because the ate not propped up, in my opinion, this is unacceptable care.

I am very disappointed in the care that this facility provides for those that are less able to care for themselves. They are not responsive to the needs of the patient or their families. They are not transparent in their communication with families or love ones. The administrator, DON or social worker are not transparent or responsive to family members. Patients basic need such as clean hair, garments are not responded to and dignity and respect for the patients is severely lacking. The staff needs more education and in services on how to care for the elderly because they are not knowledgeable regarding elder care. The only nurse that I trust to take good care of my loved one is Jimmy. He is phenomenal! The clenliness of the facility is sorely lacking. Disgusting!

Aiken Rehab cared for my dad late last year and though we don’t ever want to go back or have to have him there again we know that the folks who work at this facility truly care and puts the patients’ best interests first. There are a number of folks who had a direct hand in caring for my dad and each were fantastic. Jimmy, the nurse on his wing, was prompt when called (not only by my dad but by any patient/resident) and took time to really make sure that the request and more were taken care of. Karen R. did a fantastic job of making my dad and my entire family feel like family at the facility. She takes the initiative to engage with the patient and help them feel comfortable, included, and special. My dad asks about her often - I think he enjoyed dancing with her in the music activity even though at the time he was wheelchair bound. As previously mentioned, we never want to go back but if the need to be back at in-patient therapy or in the nursing home arose, Aiken Rehab will be among the top choices.

If I hadn't experienced it, I wouldn't have believed it. I shouldn't place blame on the whole facility... But to have these things occur, under their watch, troubles me. I guess, seeing my Elders, in the hall or laid up, just staring at the ceiling, is the norm for Nursing Homes. πŸ€·πŸΎβ€β™€οΈ Every single Elder that I would stop, to give a warm greeting, either thanks me for speaking to them or have me perform some task. Believe me, I don't mind... Our Elders, are to be respected... No matter what. I made it my duty, to stop and acknowledge, each Elder I had seen. I'd always visit my Uncle, after 3pm, as to not interfere with their therapy and group activities. So, maybe that's when they all rest. But finding my Uncle in 'Timeout' at the Nurse's Station because he takes off his oxygen, is a bit much. When I had asked about his oxygen, which had been prescribed, 5 years ago... The first response was, "He hit me... He wasn't ordered oxygen... He can't be hitting me... He keeps trying to get up... " Her facial expressions changed for me, at that moment... She never smiled, in my presence again. I tried to explain that it must have been by accident because he's not mean-spirited. I had suggested that maybe, being without oxygen, all of those hours, could have made him restless. She went on about him, hitting her. My Uncle promised me, he didn't hit anyone. The next encounter, as I approached, the same 'Nurse', screwed up her face... I wear masks, for my protection and the patients, so she couldn't see my brilliant smile. I had asked about his Concentrator because he had a Therapy Tank. She started with, "His Concentrator broke... The way he hit me, I know he won't keep his oxygen on anyway... He shouldn't be hitting people..." In my mind, I asked myself, "There's only one Concentrator in the whole building?" That's when I found out that Jimmy was the LPN, to see. He found another Concentrator and kept a check on my Uncle. I'm not sure, if she's a Nurse or a CNA... I g...

Came to visit my Aunt. She looked well taken care of. Kristen, her nurse, was awesome. Very personable and answered our questions. Thank you.
