Honestly, I stopped into this quiet, hidden gem completely on a whim. My gracious, what a wonderful museum! Several small communities were completely displaced by the Savannah River Site installation; many of the items are saved and on display here. An ENTIRE Pharmacy, complete with Soda Fountain of housed in the basement! It's just a phenomenal time capsule of days that aren't so really long ago. Don't miss this amazing slice of Aiken history!

Our guide, Alecia, was very friendly and knowledgeable. Very interesting museum to visit. No admission charge, but worth giving a donation at the end

Fantastic museum with so much history of the area. The displays are well done. The buildings are in great shape. The grounds are beautiful. The displays are organized and displayed exceptionally well with explanations of the exhibits.

Aiken County Historical Museum, this place has everything you want to know about Aiken. A lot of information. You are greeted with kindness from the time you walk in at the front desk to roaming around the gift shop. I picked up a puzzle and goat milk soap.

My friend and I took our kids (8 altogether) to visit Aiken county historical museum the other week when it was really too hot to do anything outside. While I wouldn’t say it is necessarily the best place to take 8 energetic children if you actually want to enjoy all the exhibits, the staff there were very kind and thoughtful and did their best to guide us to the most kid friendly and interesting sections. The exhibits were very interesting and thoughtfully laid out, and I would love to go back to visit another day, maybe with just my older children, or one or two at a time. I would also love to go back to visit the grounds on a cooler day, the landscaping looked beautiful.
