The first time I went to Tax Auditor’s office, it was a nightmare! The lady named Candice or Candy, whose name starts with the letter C was too rude and incompetent! She should not be a public servant if she has that attitude! I just came there to get help with my tax payment, and since English is my second language, I had a friend to talk to her to make it easier, but she said she dont want to talk over the phone and asked me a bunch of questions like VIN and plate number she had the paperwork I gave her all she needs to do is to read them. She was rude and unapologetic! It was supposed to be as easy as that, but her attitude complicated it! She should not be in that position as a public servant! She doesn't have a customer service characteristic. We, taxpayers, should be served right!

Property tax on autos is way out of actual range, I have a 2006 Jeep GC that they valued at over 10,000 using redbook, when 2 jeep dealers stated its value to be around 1500.00, which resulted in a serious over charge in property taxes on it. I supplied all the paperwork to remedy this but the assessor would only lower it to about 6000.00, which it still way to high. I actually see this as a form of fraud on their part. all auto owners need to be aware of this as it effects all of us, Look at your auto tax bill you will notice there is no auto value listed. you have to call and ask them this amount. new": Hey I want a 200k bonus for a "elected" position as this guy got as well as his buddy-which is a direct violation to SC law- no elected offical can ge a bonus for working as a job they ran for and at the time knew what the pay was - only to cry later- I WANT MORE- WAAAAAAAAAAAAA- ALSO a small 8hp outboard motor-not connected to a boat is no different than a chain saw, a drill motor or a law tractor- and to "tax: such a thig is a SIN., which is a lot nicer of a word then I am currently thinking-$45/year- and these donkey butts wanted a $200,000/ bonus!?!?!?!?!! Time to (out with the old/in with the new) and more even after a elected person leaves a office , they can still be prosecuted years later for wrong doing- mso this would also apply to the counsel member! Got more, I have a outboard motor, which has to be titled in SC, but...SURPRISE!! They charge a property tax on this-OMG-school tax and solid waste tax...weeeeee! I have the motor but no boat-(not yet) and I have to pay $46/year on the motor, this is a SCAMMMM!!!!!!I also have a dewalt cordless drill- should this be taxed? So if you have a boat be prepared to be taxed to death-and this is on top of the registration!!!!

Every time I have gone to the Auditors Office the woman has been so abrupt to the point of being rude. Today I called on the phone and felt as if I had been talked down to. Customer service classes are desperately needed.

I have visited the tax office a lot throughout the years and every experience I have had are all positive. I won't post opinion on prices or processes; only that the staff at the county building have always been courteous and helpful to me. Whether paying taxes or registering vehicles. Thanks a bunch.
